The Call for Development process is designed to provide as much flexibility as possible for participants to propose unique, yet financially sustainable concept that align with the Province’s vision. Development concepts are encouraged to be ambitious and visionary. The Government of Ontario is committed to exploring a wide range of bold ideas and accelerating the development process for its partners.

Submissions for the Call for Development will be assessed against multiple criteria, all of which demonstrate long-term benefits to the Province of Ontario and its citizens:

  • Alignment with government’s vision: Demonstrates a good understanding of the Government’s vision and translates it through the proposed development concept and related site use(s).

 

  • Viability of proposed concept: Demonstrates feasibility and a proven track record of the concept to evoke confidence for the Province in its overall commercial viability and longevity.

 

  • Team qualifications and experience: Demonstrates the team’s ability to successfully develop the Site through financial strength, stability, experience and capacity to deliver the proposed development concept.

 

  • Benefits to Government: Demonstrates multiple benefits including positive socio-economic and/or environmental impacts, neutral or positive cash flow for the Province in exchange of the lease, and commercially viable lease terms with appropriate and/or minimum constraints on the Province.

You can count on our support.

Depending on the nature of what is being proposed, the Government of Ontario is willing to offer support to its development partner(s) in one or more of the following ways:

  • The Government will support successful partners to obtain any necessary approvals from all levels of government.

 

  • To expedite development, the Government will work to increase accessibility to the Site.

 

  • As land owner, the Province will take responsibility for ensuring adequate utilities and services are provided and necessary soil management measures and/or remediation is undertaken as required.

 

  • A commitment to expand transit services to deliver visitors direct to the Site.

 

  • Willingness to enter into a long-term lease.
